Lead Acid Batteries
# The basic characteristics of elements
# The basic rules on safe application of rechargeable batteries
Technical features:
- Simple operation, testing electrolyte level or water adding is not required.
- The cells are equipped with safety valve, activated in 1-6PSI pressure.
- The battery pack life duration depends on several factors: Charging system, activating battery pack temperature, discharging system (floating or cycles).
- When using in floating discharging, the battery pack life duration should be between 3-5 years.
- When using in cycles discharging, the battery pack life duration is influenced by the number of the deep discharging the battery pack went through.
- Deep discharging shortens significantly the life duration of the battery pack.
- When using in charging-discharging cycles, the life duration of the battery pack is nearly 300 cycles. The more we perform deeper discharging cycles, so the number of cycles in the battery pack life duration will grow smaller.
Charging:
- In order to receive full life duration and maximum capacity from the battery pack, it is recommended to perform charging in stable voltage, and in a current no more than 0.3C. The continuation of charging after the battery pack is full, or continuant overcharging, shorten the life duration of the battery pack.
| Charge method | Model | |
| Cycles | Dripping | |
|
7.20V to 7.50V in temp 20oC -15mV/oC coefficient |
6.75V to 6.90V in temp 20oC -10mV/oC coefficient |
6V-1.2A to 6V-12A |
|
14.40V to 15.00V in temp 20oC -30mV/oC coefficient |
13.50V to 13.80V in temp 20oC -20mV/oC coefficient |
12V-1.2A to 12V-65A |
Discharging:
- For efficient use of the battery pack, discharging in 0.05C-2C current is recommended. It is forbidden to discharge the batter pack under the defined minimum voltage for cell. Over-discharging cause an acute rise in the amortization of the battery pack.
| Voltage in discharge end v/cell | discharge current (A) |
|
1.75 |
(A) < 0.2C |
|
1.70 |
0.2C ≤ (A) < 0.5C |
| 1.50 | 0.5C ≤ (A) < 1.0C |
| 1.30 | (A) ≥ 1.0C |
Temperature effect:
-
The battery pack capacity is influenced directly by the temperature and the current level in the discharging process. Temperature under 15OC – reduce significantly the batter pack capacity. Temperature above 50OC may cause damage and distortion of the battery pack.
